St George's Day Celebrations

St George's Day was on the 24th April and that evening residents of Kingsley and Oakhanger celebrated at the Kingsley Centre, where the hall was beautifully decorated with England flags and red balloons.

Helen Mirwald organised the event and was supported by a team of people. It took lots of hard work on their part, but the result was a very happy evening had by all! Everyone enjoyed sausage and mash, trifles and regional cheeses. In between courses a game of bingo was played and a quiz and raffle were held.

Entertainment included recitations from Mario Cerutti and English folk songs from Lorraine Marshall and Kevin Jacot.

It was a great way to celebrate our Patron Saint's Day and to partake of all things English. All money raised went to Macmillan Cancer Support.
