Training and Conferences

Continuous Improvement Groups (CIGs)

  • Groups include - repairs, anti-social behaviour, resident involvement, supported housing, sheltered housing, income management, moving home, open area management, access and customer care and value for money.
  • These groups work to improve services in line with residents' needs.
  • Regular meetings and reading material.

Assess and approve Life Improvement Grants and Community Grants

  • A group of residents authorise applications for grants put forward by other Radian residents or local community organisations to environmentally improve local areas or local community services.
  • 6 meetings a year, each lasting approximately 2 to 3 hours, in conjunction with the Open Area Management CIG and the Resident Involvement CIG.

Neighbourhood Club/ Residents' Association

  • A constituted group, which has a committee elected annually and a bank account to hold funds, who work to bring about improvements to their local neighbourhood.
  • You could join a group and just attend regular meetings or you could stand for election onto the committee.

Resident Auditors

  • We have a panel of residents who act as inspectors of Radian's services.
  • A service inspection may require two or three days attendance at Radian offices, 2 to 3 weeks preparation and giving a report of findings at the end.
  • Full training in all aspects of service inspections will be given

Radian Board

  • They scrutinise overall performance and guide Radian's business direction.
  • 5 day time meetings a year lasting between 3 and 4 hours, regular reading and training.

Magazine Editorial Team

  • Residents undertake a variety of roles including helping to decide what information should be published in the magazine and acting as roving reporters. For example, interviewing other residents over the telephone or attending events and writing an article on them.
  • A resident leads the Editorial Team.
  • Between four and eight hours of your time every three months depending on how much reporting you would like to do. More time would be needed if you became the Editor.

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Grants

  • A Group of residents authorise applications for grants to divert residents away from causing nuisance and ASB.
  • Quarterly meetings, lasting 2 to 3 hours, in conjunction with the ASB CIG.
