The Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) the national organisation working to promote tenant empowerment and involvement, has presented Drum Housing Association its highest accreditation award.
TPAS carried out a rigorous assessment of how Drum involves residents living in its properties, and how much opportunity they have in helping to shape and influence its services. Assessors observed meetings and workshops, randomly telephoned residents to ask their opinions and conducted one to one interviews with both residents and staff. After this intense scrutiny, Drum passed the Assessment with flying colours, confirming that resident involvement is truly embedded within the culture of the organisation.
"The whole process was extremely worthwhile not only because we have achieved the accreditation," explains Josephine Roberts, the Customer Focus Manager at Drum, "but also because it has given us a focus for improvements in the future. We will strive to improve on what we already do well in what is now a fast developing arena for residents to influence decisions made and services received."
Sean Gibbs, a resident of a Drum property in Portsmouth said: "I've been involved with Drum on various committees and groups for 5 years and have found all of Drums staff a pleasure to deal with. I have enjoyed it so much; I am now a tenant board member."
