Queensgate Community

About Queensgate Community, Farnborough, Hampshire

queensgate

A growing community are working together on the site of Ministry of Defence Land, developed by Inland Homes.  This fairly new development has begun building Phase 2 of a project that will last another few years and result in approximately 399 properties, including an 80 bed nursing home.

Radian residents, together with other residents have successfully formed the Queensgate Community Association.  The QCA represent the interest of all residents in that their aims are community focussed and include the wider community of Farnborough, Hampshire.

Initially working closely with their Community Development Officer, Angela Sleet; the committee are now looking forward to getting training and support to seek external funding.  This will help raise their profile on Queensgate and the wider community; plan events and work with local business and agencies.

During 2011, Queensgate was a busy community, with many new residents moving in and a number of formal and fun events.  These included: the Launch of the Scheme by Radian and Inland Homes; a fun Easter event, well attended and supported; their first open meeting as a committee and a combined event for Halloween and Fireworks – all planned and run by the committee!

QCA are planning a busy year of events in 2012; in recognition of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Air Show and the Olympics.  For these, they are looking for support from Rushmoor Council, the Police, Farnborough International and other local agencies and businesses.  The committee will also need the support and interest from residents of Queensgate; by taking on small tasks and coming along to support the various activities.

Anglea Sleet will be leaving her role as Community Development Officer on 23/02/12. This role will continue to be supported by the Radian Community Development team.
