People watching out for each other

"The conference gave me a feeling of support and the chance to help Radian create vibrant and safer communities." That was the verdict of Mimi Leggett, a Radian resident for all her working life, about Radian’s Community Safety Conference. She was one of more than 140 people from across six counties planning what Radian should do for the next three years to build community safety.

Residents, staff, the Police and local councils looked at the following:

• Victim and witness support
• Youth
• Domestic abuse
• Partnership working
• Building communities

Petra Norris, our Community Safety Manager, asked everyone to decide on:

• What Radian is doing well
• What we can improve on
• What new things should we do
• How do we measure success

Mimi said, “The workshops gave residents and staff alike the chance to voice their ideas to help Radian make our homes and estates feel safer.” She praised the presentation from Mankind Initiative, a national charity that supports male victims of domestic abuse. “There was a great deal of empathy for them,” she said. She also commended a talk by Street Watch which organises civilian street patrols.
