Derelict garages make way for ten new homes

Drum Housing Association celebrated the completion of ten new homes in Morse Road, Bordon, on Wednesday. The homes have been built next to the Petersfield Road, replacing a row of dilapidated garages. The development was undertaken by Drum in partnership with East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) and represents an investment in new housing of approximately 833,000.

The new houses provide four single bedroom flats and six two-bedroom homes for local residents. All DrumÒs new houses meet ECO Homes goodђ rating, providing well built, affordable homes, which are economic to heat and environmentally kind. The homes are part of Drums commitment to build 500 affordable new homes over three years, a target they will achieve this year.

Ms Reeder, who now lives in one of the new homes, said, "We are so happy here. We were in a bed-sit before and we just can't get over the space we now have. My little boy just keeps running round in delight!"

EHDCҒs Economic Development Team, who recently won a bid to help promote the economic fortunes of Bordon and Whitehill, has welcomed the development. The building of good quality housing in the town helps to support local business.

Councillor Carew and Councillor Cartwright of EHDC attended the gathering.
Councillor Cartwright said, Building good quality new homes in the area not only provides employment during the building process but also provides homes for local people who will support the local economy in the future. It is all part of sustainability to provide homes close to the workplace.Ӕ
