Drum Staff Cycle to Brighton to Honour Colleague

25th August 2006

A team of Drum Housing Association (Drum) staff took part in the London to Brighton Cycle Race this June in honour of Kevin Harfield, a much loved colleague who sadly passed away unexpectedly in 2004.

Kevin, who lived in Petersfield, was a keen cyclist, and famously had a very relaxed outlook on life.  In tribute to this, the Drum Cycle Team wore T-shirts emblazoned with Easy Does it - Were Doing it Kev's Way, as they rode the 56 miles from LondonԒs Clapham Common to Brighton seafront.  By taking part, they raised 270 in sponsorship for the British Heart Foundation.

Josie Harfield, who was married to Kevin, received the cheque on behalf of the charity, whilst also unveiling a bench at Drums offices in remembrance of Kevin.
Josie said I am delighted that they got on their bikes and did this in Kev's name, and I am also really touched by the bench placed at Drum Court in his memory.

Drum's Chief Executive, Andrew Cobb added, His colleagues still have fond memories of Kevin, and it has been wonderful to celebrate what he meant to us, both in the form of the bench and through the fund-raising for the British Heart Foundation."
