A Neighbourhood Officer's life

Caroline who works in our Ringwood office, said: “I spend about two days a week at my desk. The rest of the time I’m out on my patch.” She is involved in turning round empty homes as quickly as possible for new residents before welcoming them into their new homes.

If Radian Direct, our customer service centre, can’t answer anyone’s questions about their home and area, then Caroline is the person to respond. For instance, if it’s about anti-social behaviour, she will visit people in their homes.

“All anti-social behaviour must be taken seriously,” she says.“Sometimes I have to refer it to our Community Safety Team.”

Behind the scenes, Caroline works with local councils, the Police and Radian colleagues: Income Officers, Welfare Benefit Advisors and the Community Involvement Team. She also goes to site meetings with our Development Team who are responsible for building our new properties.

“I’ve got to anticipate all the questions residents might ask about a property when they move in,” she explains.

Like all Neighbourhood Officers, Caroline makes a monthly visit to all her homes with communal areas. (See page below for more details.)
